Careers Education

Starting career education early is critical. Research shows that the majority of pupils are influenced by family members, their mother, father, older siblings or grandparents. Others are influenced by family friends or what they have seen on TV or the internet. Low expectations are often shaped by biases or commonly accepted stereotypes, such as science isn't for girls or a career in the healthcare profession isn't for boys. These societal expectations act to restrict children's futures by limiting what they believe they can do.

The benefits of careers education

Career related learning encompasses activities that involve employers raising aspirations and broadening pupils horizons through careers insights and sector events, as well as careers in the curriculum through topic based activities and lessons designed to motivate children, to give them self-belief and to connect learning to life.

Pupils also improve their non-academic skills such as teamwork, communication, presenting skills, empathy, compassion and those skills that employers will be looking for in the future.

Teachers are so incredibly busy "teaching and planning" and it can take hours to arrange career events. We understand  time constraints within the curriculum that often prevent schools from delivering meaningful interactions with the world of work. We have a large pool of volunteers who are keen to support pupils and actively get involved. This is what we do, and do well.
